videocrypt dekodierung

hi, sorry but i can't write in german cause i simply don't speak german, but i understand it a little..

can anyone tell me if videocrypt will ever be decoded perfect with a program like xcrypt or so? i use xcrypt and i get good results if the camera shots are in close-up, but when the picture is dark, it is also shaking. (just like nagra in pubs1)

ps to espresso and other software developers: where do you get your resources from? how come there aren't key.txt files for decoding videocrypt?

the currently used decoding algorithm has definitely problems with dark scenes because it is based on the assumption that two successive lines are very much alike. In simple terms, one could say that the decoding programs move and compare two successive lines until they comply with this criteria. Naturally it is difficult to find the correct cutpoints if a picture has little content (dark scenes).

I don't know if the picture quality of vc could ever be the same as in nagra - vc is much more sophisticated. The problem is that nobody seems to be really working on it any more! Espresso, for example, once said that he doesn't think that it is worthwile to continue the work on vc, because Sky Analog is soon to be switched off. Everybody seems to be concentrating on digital television.

Key files, on the other hand, cannot be used with VC, because there are simply too many keys - it makes no sense. There's no point in making a key file when a key (a series of cutpoints which is needed to decode one picture) occurs only once in 100 years (that's just an example to show you what the problem is).

P.S.: Does XCrypt work now on your computer with Win2000? Did you do the same thing that I did? I'm just curious.

a few days ago, you told me (i think) (also on this board) to copy the dll 's of moretv3.42 to the xcrypt dir, so I did, now it works great but if i turn x-crypt off, i cant run moretv3.42.. (same as your problem if i remember well)

when is sky stopping with it's analog broadcast? is sky digital decodable with season cards or so? (i don't know much about digital sat systems, i'm planning to buy one in a few months, but first i'm going to make sure the season thing works..)
